When it comes to successfully losing weight or improving your fitness levels and health long term it can be the small changes that make a difference, so here are my top swaps to help you successfully change your lifestyle for the better:
1. Walk the Walk It's so easy to drive your car to the shops, hop on a bus or get a taxi nowadays and that combined with our increasingly busy schedules makes the thought of walking or cycling even more tiresome. Walking can be the easiest swap and can make a huge difference to your health if you do it everyday. So next time you're going into town try walking in, or if you need to get train or bus, make sure you walk there. If you do need to drive, as sometimes we do, try parking further away and walking the rest of the journey!
2. Step It Up Just as we drive instead of walk, most of us tend to get on the escalator or jump in a lift instead of taking the stairs. If you have stairs at work, walking up and down multiple times in the day instead of taking the lift can really increase your activity levels for the better.
3. Water Water Water As you know I am a huge advocate for drinking more water and this is something that can be swapped into your lifestyle really easily. If you tend to drink squash or cordial instead of water, once a day swap it for water on its own. Build that up and before you know it you've cut out sugar, additives and a lot of empty calories throughout the day!
